InnoCare Urologics Wins BioFlorida BioPitch Award
Recognized at the 25th Annual BioFlorida Conference among a record-breaking field of 55 life science companies.
Miami, FL — InnoCare Urologics is honored to have been named the winner of the BioFlorida BioPitch competition at the 25th Annual BioFlorida Conference. The award recognizes Florida's most innovative early-stage life science companies and includes a $10,000 prize.
BioPitch brought together more than 25 life science investors and a record-breaking 55 applicant companies from across the state. InnoCare Urologics was selected as the winner for the Egress AutoValve™ — the first urinary catheter designed to automatically deflate if a patient pulls on the device, preventing the urethral injury, bleeding, and complications that occur when traditional Foley catheters are pulled out with the balloon still inflated.
For the InnoCare team, the recognition validated both the clinical need we are addressing and the years of work that went into engineering a solution that fits seamlessly into existing clinical practice. We are grateful to BioFlorida, the BioPitch judges, and the broader Florida life sciences community for their support.
"A record-breaking 55 companies entered BioPitch with InnoCare Urologics LLC (Miami), a company developing the InnoCare Egress Catheter, the only indwelling urinary catheter designed to rapidly deflate if accidentally removed, winning the competition and receiving $10,000." — BioFlorida, November 7, 2022
The BioFlorida BioPitch Award is one of several recognitions InnoCare has received for its work on urinary catheter safety. The Egress AutoValve™ has since become the first device cleared by the FDA under a new classification code (product code SCT) for Foley Catheters and Accessories with Additional Safety Features.
