InnoCare Urologics Selected for the 2025 AUA Innovation Nexus Showcase
The American Urological Association recognized InnoCare Urologics among just 14 companies nationwide shaping the future of urologic care.
Las Vegas, NV — InnoCare Urologics was selected by the American Urological Association (AUA) as one of only fourteen companies featured at the 2025 Innovation Nexus Showcase, held on April 25, 2025 ahead of the AUA Annual Meeting. The annual showcase recognizes companies developing the most promising innovations in urologic care.
The Innovation Nexus Showcase is the AUA's competitive platform for spotlighting breakthrough urologic technologies. Each year, a selection committee curates a small cohort of companies from a national applicant pool to present before urologists, venture capital partners, and industry leaders gathered for the conference. InnoCare was selected for its work on the Egress Safety Catheter — the first Foley catheter with an integrated valve designed to automatically deflate the balloon if pulled out while still inflated.
The Egress Safety Catheter addresses a long-unresolved clinical problem: an estimated 700,000 patients each year in the United States pull out their urinary catheter with the retention balloon still inflated, resulting in urethral trauma, bleeding, infection, and extended hospitalization. The Egress AutoValve™ — the technology integrated into the inflation lumen of the device — activates under the force of a pullout and allows the balloon to deflate before harm can occur.
"This year's showcases highlight a diverse array of urologic advancements with the potential to improve countless lives." — Steven Kaplan, MD, Chair, AUA Research Council
For the InnoCare team, selection by the AUA — the leading professional organization for urology in the United States — is a meaningful endorsement from the very clinical community the Egress Safety Catheter is designed to serve. The recognition places InnoCare among a distinguished group of companies advancing urologic care, and represents another milestone in the company's mission to bring a new standard of care to patients, families, and clinicians.
InnoCare Urologics received 510(k) FDA clearance for the Egress Safety Catheter as the first device ever cleared under a new FDA classification code (product code SCT) for "Foley Catheters and Accessories with Additional Safety Features" — a classification created in response to this very innovation.
The American Urological Association is the premier professional association for the advancement of urologic patient care, representing more than 25,000 members worldwide.
